How to Trap a Bat

Many houses have to face external intruders at some point. Unlike many issues you might face inside your house, bats are a difficult task, and even worse, there are no actual traps for them. You have to find other ways to take the bats out of your house, without having to use poisons or any other harmful procedures. However, when you find a bat inside your house, you have to make up a way in order to trap it and get it out.

How to Trap the Bats

One way to trap the bat is to use a specific cage that you can put in the spot that the bat uses to go outside. You can also use a net into the open windows and catch the bat there. Of course, the next step is to actually catch the bat, put it into a container and get it out. Bats are considered as a protected species and, of course, illegal to kill them.

What you need to know is that if you had one bat inside your house and you redirect it outside, it is very likely to come back at some point. No matter how far you take it, the bat will find the way back to you. Therefore, you need to take more drastic measures in order to free your house from the bats.

Alternative Trap

There are other traps that include some specialized commercial traps that they direct the bats into the cage and the door closes behind it. Now, what you need to understand is that bats might have created a whole colony into your attic. This means 40 bats per colony. Therefore, you need to find out what you must do with them once you actually catch them.

Seal the House

Now that you have successfully removed the bats, you must seal the house in order to prevent them from ever returning. You need to first find their entry points so that you can safely close them. If you are unable to complete this task, you can even ask for a professional help. Keep in mind that these points are most likely high on the house and around the roof.

You need to close all cracks with 3/8 of an inch opening. Bats can very easily get in even in these small opening. Check where the chimney meets the roof and all the boards around the house. Check thoroughly your whole house and do the necessary repairs in order to prevent them from ever visiting them again.

Keep Your House Bat-Free

This is the best solutions in order to keep your house bat free. Bats are necessary for the whole ecosystem; therefore, it is best to avoid killing them. Use clever ways to take them out of your house and then make sure they do not find any possible entry points. Protect your family and your property from a bat colony in your attic.
