How to Get Rid of Rats from Your House

Many houses suffer from rats, especially the ones close to the countryside or in forests. Rats contain dangerous diseases and at the same time are able to destroy all of your things and property. Especially if they breed inside your house, there is a high possibility of finding yourself and everyone inside the house in a very difficult and dangerous situation. If you have recently found droppings and half eaten foods, then it is definitely time to address the problem and find the best way to get rid of the rats.

Pick Many Different Traps

The best way to get rid of the rat problem is go to your local hardware store and buy several traps, of each kind. The more traps you put inside the house, the more chances you have to get rid of all the rats. All the disposable rat traps are actually quite inexpensive, so do not be afraid to buy more than you initially intended. It may seem too much, however, for one rat that you have seen, there may be 10 others that you do not know yet.

Snap Traps

It may seem like an old way to trap the rats, but snap traps are the most efficient and proven way to catch them all. Make sure you pick big traps that will be able to instantly kill the biggest rats you may have inside your house. These traps are cheap and reusable, and since they do not contain any drug, you can leave them to some less traffic areas all year long. Be careful not to trap yourself while you are trying to set the trap.

Glue Traps

Glue traps are another, great way to defeat these small trespassers. The rats will get stuck in the glue, and they will be ultimately suffocated. This is another safe way to use these traps rather than spraying your whole house with rat poison and end up searching for rat bodies all over the house. They are also cheap, and you can catch other bugs and spiders as well. Of course, sometimes it is hard to kill the bigger rats, and in these cases, you have to kill them once they are trapped in the glue.

Stay Away From Poison

Poison is another effective way of killing the rats; however, they can cause a lot of harmful effects to you and your beloved ones. If you have pets and children, it is hard to keep them safe and away from the poison at all times. Try all these other alternatives and make sure no one inside the house will be ever in touch with these dangerous poisons.

The rats will eat the poison and then try to hide from you. Therefore, you might end up killing them, but you won't be able to find them afterwards. This may lead you to some very unpleasant situations. If the problem is too severe, then perhaps you should even consider hiring a specialist.
