Humane Way to Remove Squirrels From the Attic

Step-By-Step Guide on How to Safely Remove the Squirrels Out of the Attic

It is always possible to end the prolonged stay of the squirrels in your attic. You will not only get rid of them, but you can also prevent them from returning in your attic.

Step #1: Prevention

When you have a squirrel problem, you should first prepare the things that can help you with your problems. The first thing to do is to remove their access and the elements that invite them. Make sure all your garbage cans have been tightly secured. Get rid of the bird feeders and cut the limbs of the trees that are connected into your roofline. This will make your attic less suitable for the squirrels.

Step#2: Entering Your Attic

Remember that there are instance that the squirrels can be aggressive especially if they have litters. Before you enter your attic, start knocking on the ceiling or the doors on the attics that will alert your squirrels. In case your ceiling comes with a drop-staircase, try slamming it consecutive times in your ceiling. This will scare the squirrels, and you will be able to enter your attic without any issue. You may also play loud music and keep your lights on at the attic for several days.

Step #3: Preparation of Your Attic

Make sure that your pets are not present inside the attic, they can impede on your task and make the matters worst. Start cleaning your attic and remove any clutter that will disturb the squirrels. Keep the door closed that will lead to the other areas of your home. Keep the windows open that directs away from your house. This will allow them to find their exit.

Step #4: Using Large Trap

In case the Step no.3 is not possible, you may set large traps such as exclusion doors and cage trap. Put a generous amount of peanut butter on a pinecone that will invite the squirrels. Set it near the squirrel but make sure that you will keep your distance and leave it for a couple of hours.
